Every collection at The Mahjong Closet begins in-house.
It starts with an idea—a place, a season, a memory, a beautiful room, a favorite tradition, or simply the feeling we want a Mahjong table to have when friends gather around it.
From there, we build the story. We develop the concept, visual direction, artwork, color palette, composition, and individual details of every tile.
We don't choose from a manufacturer's catalog, purchase pre-made artwork, or simply change the colors on an existing set. Every collection begins with our own creative vision.
And we don't design each tile in isolation. We consider how the entire collection feels when it's laid out across the table—the relationship between the suits, the colors, the backs, the layers, the typography, and even how one tile feels beside the next.
Some designs go through multiple revisions before we're satisfied.
It takes longer.
But that's also what makes these collections ours.

THE PROCESS
FROM OUR STUDIO TO THE TILE
Once the creative work is developed, we take it a step further.
We partner with one of the most detail-oriented production teams we have found, along with two highly specialized design studios in China, to translate our original artwork into the precise technical files required to manufacture each tile.
Throughout that process, we continue refining the details so the integrity, character, and intention of the original design are preserved as the collection moves into production.
It is a collaboration between original design and specialized craftsmanship—with The Mahjong Closet's creative vision guiding the collection from beginning to end.
THE MAKING OF A MAHJONG CLOSET TILE
CRAFTED IN LAYERS. FINISHED WITH PRECISION
CUT & POLISH
Each acrylic tile is individually cut, polished, and finished in preparation for the artwork.
LASER ENGRAVE
The artwork is laser engraved approximately 0.6–0.8 mm into the tile surface, creating a recessed design rather than artwork simply printed on top.
COLOR &UV CURE
Color is applied through UV printing, with ink placed within the engraved artwork and cured immediately using ultraviolet light.
PROTECT & FINISH
A clear protective coating is applied to help preserve the color, finish, and integrity of the design through normal long-term use.
THE SIGNATURE
EVEN THE BACK TELLS THE STORY
The back of a Mahjong Closet tile is never an afterthought.
The layers, colors, and finishes are chosen as part of the collection itself, creating another design moment when the tiles are turned over on the table.
Our signature MC monogram receives the same attention to detail. The logo is laser engraved into the back of each tile, filled with metallic gold paint, and finished with its own protective coating.
Because to us, luxury isn't only about the side everyone sees.

QUALITY AT EVERY STAGE
CUTTING & POLISHING
Tiles are inspected following the initial cutting and polishing process.
ENGRAVING & COLOR
Tiles are inspected again after laser engraving and UV color application.
FINAL SORTING & PACKING
Every set receives a final review as the tiles are sorted and prepared for packing.
TILE CARE
CARING FOR YOUR COLLECTION
Your Mahjong Closet tiles are designed to be played and enjoyed. A little care will help keep them beautiful game after game.
For routine cleaning, gently wipe each tile with a soft, slightly damp microfiber cloth, then dry immediately with a clean, soft cloth.
Avoid soaking or submerging the tiles in water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, alcohol-based products, or scrubbing materials that could affect the finish or protective coating.
Store your tiles in their case when not in use, and avoid prolonged exposure to excessive heat or direct sunlight.
Play them. Love them. Take care of them.
They're meant to spend a lot of time around the table.
