TERMS OF SERVICE
Welcome to The Mahjong Closet. These Terms of Service govern your use of our website, purchases, participation in The Mahjong Closet Society, and related services.
By accessing our website, purchasing products, or joining The Mahjong Closet Society, you agree to these Terms.
1. About The Mahjong Closet
The Mahjong Closet offers Mahjong sets, accessories, membership services, Closet Refreshes, Vacation Drops, limited releases, and related products and experiences.
We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue products, collections, services, benefits, or website features at any time, subject to applicable law.
2. Eligibility
You must be legally able to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction to make purchases or participate in The Mahjong Closet Society.
You are responsible for providing accurate account, billing, shipping, and contact information.
3. Products and Availability
Product images, colors, materials, dimensions, and descriptions are provided as accurately as reasonably possible. Because displays, materials, production methods, and handmade or specialty finishes may vary, minor differences may occur.
All products, collections, limited releases, Closet Refresh selections, and Vacation Drops are subject to availability.
We reserve the right to limit quantities, refuse or cancel orders, correct errors, and update pricing or product information when necessary.
4. Pricing and Payment
Prices are listed in U.S. dollars unless otherwise stated.
Applicable taxes, shipping charges, membership fees, and other charges will be disclosed during checkout when required.
By submitting payment information, you represent that you are authorized to use the selected payment method.
5. The Mahjong Closet Society
Participation in The Mahjong Closet Society requires a qualifying Mahjong Closet purchase and an active eligible membership.
Membership levels may include The Collection, The Reserve, and The Vault.
Membership benefits vary by tier and may include Closet Credits, Closet Refreshes, Vacation Drops, early access, discounts, gifts, and other privileges.
Current membership benefits and eligibility requirements are described on our Membership page and may be updated from time to time.
6. Closet Credits
Closet Credits are membership benefits used toward eligible Closet Refreshes.
Closet Credits:
- have no cash value
- are not transferable unless expressly permitted
- cannot be sold or exchanged for cash
- are subject to the terms of the member’s active membership
- may be affected by cancellation, suspension, tier changes, or other membership changes
Unless otherwise stated, 6 Closet Credits equal 1 eligible Closet Refresh.
7. Closet Refreshes
A Closet Refresh allows an eligible Society member to return the current qualifying collection and select another eligible available collection.
Refresh eligibility depends on membership tier, Closet Credit balance, inventory, collection availability, account status, and compliance with Society requirements.
Members must return all required components associated with their current Refresh.
Depending on membership tier, a Refresh may include:
The Collection: Tiles
The Reserve: Tiles + coordinating Mat
The Vault: Tiles + Mat + Racks + Dice
Missing items, excessive damage, loss, misuse, or failure to return required components may result in replacement charges, repair charges, suspension of Refresh privileges, or other remedies permitted by law.
8. Vacation Drops
Vacation Drops are available only to eligible membership tiers and are subject to availability and destination approval.
Vacation Drops do not use Closet Credits or count toward annual Closet Refreshes.
Members are responsible for providing accurate travel dates and destination information and for ensuring that the destination can receive and safeguard the shipment.
All Vacation Drop items must be returned according to the provided instructions and within the applicable return period.
9. Founding 100
Founding Member status is limited to the first 100 eligible Founding Memberships issued by The Mahjong Closet.
Founder numbers are individually assigned from 001–100.
Founder status and Founder number are intended to remain associated with the original Founder, subject to these Terms and applicable law.
Founder privileges may include additional Closet Refreshes, additional Vacation Drops, Founder-first access, voting opportunities, anniversary gifts, and other benefits.
Active membership may be required to receive certain Founder benefits.
Founder benefits may evolve over time, but The Mahjong Closet will not create additional Founding 100 numbers beyond the original 100.
10. Membership Billing and Cancellation
Memberships are billed on a recurring basis according to the plan selected at enrollment.
You may cancel in accordance with our Purchase Options Cancellation Policy.
Cancellation stops future recurring charges after the effective cancellation date. Fees already charged are generally non-refundable unless required by law.
Unused Closet Credits, pending Refreshes, Vacation Drops, and other benefits are handled according to the current Membership Terms and Purchase Options Cancellation Policy.
11. Returns and Refunds
Standard merchandise returns are governed by our Return and Refund Policy.
Closet Refreshes and Vacation Drops are membership services and are not treated as ordinary merchandise returns.

12. Intellectual Property
All content associated with The Mahjong Closet, including logos, trademarks, artwork, tile designs, collection concepts, graphics, photographs, text, product names, packaging, website content, and other creative materials, is owned by or licensed to The Mahjong Closet unless otherwise stated.
You may not reproduce, copy, distribute, modify, manufacture, sell, publish, or commercially use our intellectual property without prior written permission.
13. User Conduct
You agree not to use our website or services to:
- violate applicable law
- interfere with website security or operation
- engage in fraud or misrepresentation
- infringe intellectual-property rights
- misuse Society membership benefits
- resell, reproduce, or commercially exploit products or designs without authorization
14. Account Suspension or Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts, orders, or membership privileges when reasonably necessary because of fraud, nonpayment, abuse, repeated failure to return Society property, excessive damage, misuse of membership privileges, violation of these Terms, or other legitimate business or legal reasons.
Where appropriate, we will attempt to provide notice.
15. Third-Party Services
Our website may use services provided by Shopify, payment processors, shipping carriers, analytics providers, social platforms, and other third parties.
Those third parties may have their own terms and privacy practices.
16. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the extent permitted by law, our website, products, and services are provided on an “as available” basis.
Nothing in these Terms limits warranties or consumer protections that cannot legally be excluded.
17. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, The Mahjong Closet will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the website, products, membership services, shipping delays, third-party services, or other matters covered by these Terms.
Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot legally be limited.
18. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Mahjong Closet and its owners, employees, contractors, and affiliates from claims arising from your unlawful use of our website or services or your violation of these Terms.
19. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to The Mahjong Closet’s business operations, without limiting consumer rights that apply in your jurisdiction.
20. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms periodically.
The version posted on our website at the time of use or purchase will apply, subject to applicable law.
